Lharpagophytum is a plant of the desert regions of South East Africa, and especially of the Kalahari desert and steppes of Namibia. Research has shown the properties anti-inflammatory drugs of the harpagophytum. Some also indicate that its root may improve the mobility and significantly relieve pain in case of osteoarthritis. Commission E and ESCOP recognized its usefulness in assisting in the treatment of degenerative disorders of the locomotor system (skeleton, muscle, joint) as well as in the treatment of pain associated with osteoarthritis.

The boswellia is a large tree growing in the hilly arid areas of India. It is also located in North Africa and the Middle East. Its resin has been used for millennia in India, China and North Africa. Boswellia resin is one of the most commonly used anti-inflammatory natural health products at present. It contains several compounds that reduce the inflammatory process, which would explain its increasing use for relieve joint problems.

The glucosamine is made by the body from glucose and glutamine, an amino acid. It has a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of cartilage of all joints. It is usually extracted from the shell of crustaceans (crabes, shrimps...). Glucosamine has been the subject of several meta-analyses and synthesises which concluded that it is effective in relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis mild to moderate. Other long-term clinical trials have also shown that, in addition to its effects on symptoms, it can help to curb the development of the disease, without having the undesirable side effects of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
